Uzodimma condoles with Police over slain officers

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state Tuesday paid a visit to the Imo state Police Command headquarters to condole with them over the demise of police officers who went down as a result of security challenges in the state.

While welcoming the governor, the Police Commissioner, Abutu Yaro said the visit was first of its kind since the establishment of the command and that it has boosted the morale of his men as they would continue to do what they know best, which is maintaining law and order and preserving peace.

He used the opportunity afforded by the visit to encourage hospitality industries in the state and those who patronise them to come out and do their businesses and patrionise them while assuring of their protection.

In his speech, Governor Uzodimma said he came to condole with them on the death of their officers who died in the line of duty and at the same time asked God to protect officers who are still alive as the police are the last hope of the common man, saying: “If the police are challenged, the whole country is challenged.”

The governor assured the command that his government would not allow them to do the job alone but would support and supply them with the necessary equipment with which to do their jobs.

He enjoined the police to be proactive in their duties and not allow gunmen who are not licensed like them to shoot before them or allow them to enter the police stations.

Governor Hope Uzodimma who thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Bala Usman Akali for the necessary support given to the state to fight insecurity, later commissioned 6 security Hilux vans donated to the Rapid Response Team of the command.
