Uzodimma sets up whitepaper on land use, rejig cabinet

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state Thursday set up a committee for the full implementation of the state’s Whitepaper on Land Use and other Related Matters.

The committee is to be chaired by the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning while the Commissioner for Housing will act as secretary.

Other members of the committee are Commissioner for Works, General Manager, Environmental Transformation Commission(ENTRACO), General Manager, Owerri Capital Development Authority(OCDA), and others approved by the state executive council as members.

The committee is charged with the responsibility of total implementation of all aspects of the Whitepaper on Lands and other Related Matters expeditiously.

The governor also carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle. Briefing Government House press at the end of the EXCO meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Mbadiwe Emelumba, stated that the governor announced further minor cabinet reshuffle of members of the executive council.

He said the new adjustment saw the present Commissioner for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, Noble Atulegwu, move over to Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, move to the Ministry of Power, while the Commissioner for Power, Chief Iyke Umeh, would head the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition.

Throwing light on the need for the reshuffle, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, C. O. C. Akaolisa, said the governor “deems it necessary to carry out the exercise as a way of ensuring that the programmes and policies of the administration move on smoothly and that no commissioner is removed. Rather, it is an attempt to put the pegs in the right holes”.
