Uzodinma’s aide raises Imo citizens’ hope on rural development

The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma on Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Mrs Rubby Emele, has disclosed that a lot of dividends of democracy would be released by the governor this year, especially from her bureau.

In a chat with our correspondent, Emele disclosed that a lot of rural roads had been penciled down for reconstruction and rehabilitation, especially the Nekede-Ihiagwa road which had been re-awarded because the former contractor refused to go back to site, thereby bringing untold hardship to the people that ply the road.

She also described the newly awarded road contracts from Owerri to Orlu and Owerri to Okigwe as very important, as they would boost private and public sector participation  and ensure that food produce were easily transported to their places of need.

She further said that more classroom blocks with e-Library and other internet facilities would be built in schools, while healthcare centres would be equipped to meet the health needs of the people, as well as market square empowerment to boost entrepreneurship among traders.

On local government staff salaries, the one time state chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) said they were being paid regularly, except for those who made mistakes while submitting their personal data.

She disclosed that the state government had developed a template whereby every affected genuine staff would have to fill in his or her personal data in a form to be issued, rather than allowing accounts or administrative personnel to fill them for them and in the process make mistakes.

This new template, according to her, was to avoid or solve forever the problem of data mistakes which made some genuine staff not to receive their salaries like others.
