Uzoenyi pens down new Rangers deal

Most Valuable Player at just concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN), Ejike Uzoenyi, has entered into a new contract with the Rangers International FC, Enugu after a botched move to play for South African clubs.

The gifted left footed winger was engaged in talks with two South African club sides Orlando Pirates and Memolodi Sundowns but never reached any agreement to feature for either of the top teams where 2014 CHAN was hosted.

Disclosing this to Blueprint Sport through a telephone call in Abuja, general manager of Rangers FC, Paul Ozor, who could not provide details of the new contract said the 2014 World Cup hopeful will be among the players the club is aiming to parade in the 2013/2014 season which resumes March 7.

According to him,“We cannot disclose the details of the contract but he has signed for the new league season in line with the rules and regulations of the League Management Company (LMC). We are happy to have him back in the team.
“Currently, he is with the rest of the players in Oba where they are training in readiness for the new season.”

On the postponement of the Premier League season, Mr. Ozor noted that the shift in the kick-off date for the new NPFL season from February. 23 to the weekend of March 7would give the clubs and more time to prepare as well as afford the LMC enough time to work out modalities that would guarantee a hitch-free football season.
