Super Eagles chief tactician, Gernot Rohr seems to have made up his mind to include Francis Odinaka Uzoho in his squad for Russia 2018 World Cup following his impressive showing against Argentina in an international friendly game.
Coach Rohr described the 19 year old goalkeeper as a player with high quality and good personality that can effectively work with defenders.
Uzoho, who made his debut for Nigeria on Tuesday, not only impressed the Eagles gaffer, but thousands of soccer loving Nigerians have also commended the confidence he displayed during the encounter with the dreaded South Americans who were defeated 4¬-2.
The Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the game after replacing Daniel Akpeyi who conceded two goals in the half time of the friendly game with the Argentines, and thus being tipped by many as a material that Coach Rohr cannot ignore for the next year football fiesta.
Uzoho, who has just two La-Liga games to his name will however be given more games with the senior national team of Nigeria, as he has clearly impressed with the coach of the team.
“He has a big personality and that is very important for the defenders. When you play with a keeper like Uzoho it is easy for the players around him. He is young and commands his area well and it is very good to have a keeper like that.” the coach told a source close to the team.
” He also uses the ball very well; all his deliveries from the back against Argentina went to one of our players. He is good at it with both feet. Something some outfield players can’t boast of, he is a modern day goalkeeper but he still has some works to do”, Rohr said.
