Uzoho steps up recovery process, eyes Eagles’ return

Super Eagles have been handed a massive boost amid the Coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the whole world as Nigeria’s number goaltender Francis Uzoho has returned to full training, after a long term injury lay off.
The 20-year-old has been out since he suffered a knee injury in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Brazil in an international friendly last October.

Minutes into the second-half, Uzoho landed awkwardly on his knee while trying to deal with a cross from the left and was stretchered off in that game, and further tests showed he damaged his ligaments. He was subsequently ruled out for six months, but he has confirmed his return after just five months.

Uzoho shared a video of himself training at home, stating he is back. The former Elche goalkeeper tagged some of his Super Eagles teammates, and he even joked he would allow them to score against him.

In Uzoho’s absence, Akpeyi was given the nod to play in Super Eagles qualifiers against the Bennin Republic and Lesotho.

Uzoho was starting to establish himself as the undisputed No 1 before the injury. The 20-year-old will hope to win his place back when the Super Eagles return to action after the dreaded COVID-19 break
