VIDEO: Watch as Nigerian boxer knocks out opponent at Commonwealth Games 2022

Nigeria’s Boxing captain at the Commonwealth Games Birmingham, AbdulAfeez Osoba showed guts and stuff on Saturday at NEC Hall 4 when he decisively knocked out his opponent, Carl Leveticus Hield, from Bahamas in just 2:52 minutes of the first round in the Men’s Light Middle Weight (67kg-71kg) round of 32.

Fighting from the Blue corner, Osoba left no one in doubt from the powerful knock down of Levitcus of the Red Corner who groped on the canvas until the mandatory count sent him out.

The bout rekindled the hopes of the Nigerian camp as medal hopeful and current African Light Middleweight Champion, Bolanle Shogbamu narrowly lost her round of 16 bout to British female pugilist, Charlotte Wilkinson 1-4 on points in that class.

The five Judges’ score cards showed it was by split decision and a lucky win for Wilkinson who fought from the Red Corner.

Meanwhile the Nigerian camp who we can confirm has their kits now is still basking in the presence of Oluwatobiloba Amusan who just emerged Athletics Hurdles World Champion and her sister Eme who won a Bronze.

They have been received by the Minister of Sports, Chief Sunday Dare.
