Vigilantes kill 4 armed robbers, recover 4 guns in Kogi

Four armed robbers/kidnappers who have been terrorising the people of Kogi state were on Tuesday killed along Lokoja-Gegu-Abaji road by men of the state vigilantes while four others were arrested with four AK-47 and several rounds of ammunitions.

Reacting Governor Yahaya Bello commended the effort of security operatives in Kogi state in combating crimes on highways in the state.

While describing the dexterity of the combined security architecture in the state as brave and sacrificial, the governor, said that he was not unaware of the positive impact of community policing, stressing that his administration embarked on the recruitment and training of 6,000 vigilantes in 2017 for community policing, noting that  such initiative have yielded tremendous result in the fight against criminality in the state.

‘Our investments in community policing by involving the people to police their community is now yielding very positive result , and to sustain this gain, more of this initiative will be our lot as we strive to rid our state of crimes’.

He vowed not to surrender or relent  in the war his administration has waged against insecurity until all criminal elements in the state and those who came into the state to torment crimes are flushed out.

He reiterated his administration commitment to continue to support all security agencies in the state to enhance their operations.
