The Directorate of Road Transport Service (DRTS), also called VIO, has reminded the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to expedite action on its programmed transport system within the city.
The unit commander in charge of Kugbo, Yakubu Musa, while speaking on the steps so far taken to curb gridlock on the Keffi-Abuja road, called on the FCTA to start work on the transport master plan.

He said the enforcement of park and ride transport system as captured in the plan would assist to ease traffic being experienced on daily basis on the axis.
Musa stated that with the system, heavy vehicular movement into the City Centre would be controlled, adding that “people will stop coming into the City Centre with their vehicles, and there will be special vehicles that would be conveying people into the town.”

“In the Master Plan, there is a bus terminal, or Motor Park around Nyanya area where people will park and join the public one that will be provided by the FCTA; this will control traffic, but any person that insists to come into the city with car will be charged a fine at the main entrance,” he said.
He said constant traffic on the route could only be reduced or control if the major steps are put in place.
On the incessant killings in Kugbo, he said there was no provision for pedestrian bridge, but that a make-up bridge that would “assist people can be an alternative if the people wish.”
