Violations of regulations: NCAA’s hammer hits 7 aircraft operators

As the Nigerian aviation industry looks set to commence commercial flight activities today Wednesday, a number of aircraft, mostly used by charter operators will have to wait till further notice before they are allowed to return to the sky following violations and apparent non compliance with certain parts of their Air Operator’s Certificate AOC as stipulated by the country’s Civil Aviation Authority CAA’s regulatory standards by their operators.

The failure to comply with the stipulated regulations has resulted in the suspension of 7 firms from operating aircraft that have breached the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), regulations following the audit of their operations by inspectors from the regulatory agency.

A document sighted by our correspondent showed that Kaduna based SkyPower Express Airways Nig Limited, owned by a former Managing Director of the defunct Nigerian Airways, Captain Mohammed Joji was worst hit with 8 aircraft in the company’ fleet affected.

The regulatory body said it suspended the airline operations Specs Part G of its Air Operator’s Certificate due to non compliance and or violations of the provision of NCARS Part 9.2.3.4(b).

A letter dated June 30th, 2020 with a reference number NCAA/DG/AIR/11/16/129 with the signature of the Director General Captain Musa Nuhu affirmed the suspension of Skypower Express Airways Nig Limited alongside six others.

The document was titled ‘Suspension of the Ops specs Part G (Aircraft Leasing Operations) of your organization’s Air Operator’s Certificate’ and addressed to the Managing Director of SkyPower Express Airways Nig Limited

The document read in part “Be informed that by this action your organization ceases to exercise all the privileges associated with Part G authorisation.

“Furthermore, the operations of the following aircraft listed on the Part G of your organization’s operations specifications are hereby suspended pending a full audit of your organization and compliance with all the relevant Nig. CARS:”

The aircraft affected include a Hawker 800XP:N838BB, a Hawker 800XP: N552ME, a Hawker 800XP: N749WW and another Hawker 800XP:ZS-EXG.

Others are CL604-D-ANGB, CL604-T7-NMN, CL601-N580KR and a Gulfstream 200-N100EK aircraft.
