Volume of transactions at NSE rises by 30.42%

Volume of transactions on the floor of Nigerian Exchanged on Tuesday increased by 30.42 per cent as sell off in shares of GTCO Plc, United Bank for Africa, AccessCorp, FTNCocoa and others lifted market activities.

Investors traded 100.093 million shares valued at N1.295 billion in 3186 deals against 76.748 million shares cost N1.325 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 3262 deals.

The NGX trading activities showed that All Share Index grew by 1.22 basis points to 49416.18 points from 49414.96 points reported the on Monday.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by N1 billion to N26.915 trillion from N26.914 trillion reported the previous day.

An analysis of the transactions showed that UPDC REIT led gainers table during the day, appreciating by 8.62 per cent to N3.15, Royal Exchange followed with a gain of 5.95 per cent to N0.89, Ardova Plc added 4.19 per cent to N17.40, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc gained 3.57 per cent to N21.75, Custodian Investment added 2.75 per cent to N5.60.

On the contrary, Neimeth international Pharmaceutical topped losers chart during the day, shedding 9.66 per cent to N1.31, Scoa Plc trailed with a drop of 9.41 per cent to N0.77, UPDC gained 7.07 per cent to N0.92, RTBriscoe dipped by 6.90 per cent to N0.27, Chams Plc fell by 4.55 per cent to N0.27.

The report further showed that GTCO Plc was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 16.438 million shares valued at 354.748 million, Chi Plc followed with account of 9.260 million shares worth N5.447 million, United Bank for Africa traded 7.119 million share cost N52.462 million, FTNCocoa exchanged 7.096 million shares valued at N2.014 million while AccessCorp traded 5.265 million shares cost N45.159 million.
