Volume of transactions at NSE rises by 85.4%

Volume of transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange increased by 85.40 per cent as investors engaged in last minute repositioning in stocks expected to pay dividend at the end of the year.

Investors traded 722.565 million shares valued at N4.380 billion in 5042 deals against 389.724 million shares cost N4.380 billion in 5042 deals.

The NSE trading result showed that market capitalisation of listed equities increased by N167 billion or 0.82 per cent to N20.446 trillion from N20.279 trillion reported on Thursday. The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 310.16 or 0.80 per cent to 39110.17 points from 38800.01 points reported previously.

A review of investment during the day indicated that BUACement led gainers table during the day, gaining N4.00 to close at N64.00, Zenith Plc followed with a gain of N0.50 kobo to close at N25.00, Access Bank added N0.35 kobo to close at N8.95 kobo, NEM Insurance increased by N0.13 kobo to close at N1.49 kobo, NPF Micro Finance Bank added N0.13 kobo to close at N1.18 kobo.

The report further showed that CAP Plc topped losers chart, dropping by N0.50 kobo to close at N20.00, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of N0.45 kobo to close at N27.50 kobo, NCR fell by N0.21 kobo to close at N1.96 kobo, Guinness Nigeria Plc dipped by N0.20 kobo to close at N19.30 kobo, Guaranty Trust Bank dropped by N0.10 kobo to close at N32.70 kobo.

On the contrary, AIICO Insurance was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 273.128 million shares valued at N326.092 million, Oando Plc followed with account of 81.449 million shares cost N323.325 million, FBNHoldings traded 41.089 million shares cost N294.211 million, Access Bank traded 40.134 million shares cost N353.273 million, Champion Breweries sold a total of 36.324 million shares valued at N30.158 million.
