VON DG, Osita Okechukwu begins wife’s funeral arrangements


The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON) Osita Okechukwu has said that his late wife, Mrs. Augustina Uchechukw Okechukwu nee Okekeuche was his serious confidant that he called ‘my organizer.’


Okechukwu stated this yesterday, announcing the bury arrangments of the wife in Abuja. 


Speaking to newsmen Wednesday in Abuja, he said the Requiem Mass and Wake Keep for the late wife will hold on October 11 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Gwarinpa Abuja by 4pm.


Before her death on September 20, Mrs Okechukwu, fondly called Tina by friends and associates and ‘my organizer’ by her husband was an international business woman. Her businesses included horticulture, international trading, bread making, real estate and catering.


The deceased, who was a foundation staff of Sheraton Hotels and Towers Abuja, attended Federal Government College, Maiduguri and Doff Catering School, Sagon Otta in Ogun State. 


As a business woman, she had a garden at T.Y.Danjuma Street, Asokoro, Shops at International Model Market Garki, houses at Guzape, Apo, Masaka et al. As a globe trader she traded in countries such as Benin, Togo, Ghana, the United States of America, United Kingdom, and Dubai.


The husband said, “She was known for her bravery, transparency, love, kindness and most importantly her resilience, that even in times of difficulties she always stood on the part of righteousness, fairness, leaning on principle more than pragmatism and that which was just irrespective of who’s ox is gored.”


Mrs. Okechukwu, a devout Catholic Christian, who got married in 1989, to Mr Osita Okechukwu, is survived by her dear husband, daughter Mrs Cynthia Ada Offor (nee Okechukwu), son Mr Jeff Okechukwu and son-in-law Barr. Offor Ezenwa, brothers and sisters among whom is Igwe Mike Okekeuche, Okpalarim 11 of Enuguagidi, Njikoka local government area.


The burial arrangements, according to the Director General also include Blessing at Holy Trinity Parish Maitama, Abuja by 6pm on October 19th after which her remains depart for Enugu- Agidi her maternal home before heading to Eke Enugu state.


On October 25th there will be a wake keep at Amankwo Eke her compound by 5pm and would be buried on 26th at the compound.
