The National Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ondo Governorship election has charged the electorates to vote for its candidate, Eyitayo Jegede on 10th October of this year.
Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council, Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde stated this during the flag-off of the party’s campaign monitor by our correspondent on Saturday at Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Makinde said “they are saying you should vote for them because they want Presidency to come to Yoruba land. This election is not about Presidency to Yoruba land, This election is about delivering Eyitayo Jegede and putting Ondo state among the states that will lead the charge to restructure Nigeria.
He added that “10th September 2020 is a special day and you will deliver special results. This election is about you choosing between continuous servitude and freedom. We want freedom for the entire South-West. It has started from Oyo state, it will continue in Ondo state on 10th September 2020. Will you rather stay with a candle when you have the sun? Ondo state is the sunshine state. They have been lighting a candle for you, so it is time to let the sunshine again.
“So, you will come out, cast your votes and stay with your votes. Your votes will not only count, it will be counted and it will liberate Ondo state, Governor of Oyo state added.
In his remarks, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus said he “believes strongly that Ondo state is PDP”.
He said “by the special grace of God, what you shall do on that day is to vote out that government that has turned the Ondo state government to a family business, and that man who is bringing the change is Eyitayo Jegede.
“Let us tell the federal government of APC that the only thing left for Nigeria is for Buhari to conduct a free and fair election in Nigeria because the economy has collapsed, security has collapsed and they are swimming in corruption and Nigeria is on a keg of gun powder, waiting to explode. The only way out is for Buhari to conduct a free and fair election in Edo and Ondo states so that Nigeria can remember him, Secondus said.
On his part, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal urged the electorate to come out and vote massively for PDP.
He explained that ” now the other party, the APC is in disarray, not only in Ondo state where they are busy fighting but also in the nation where they unlawfully against their own constitution dissolved their own national working committee. Are they not a party of confusion? Are they capable of governing Nigeria? As at now, they do not have a Board of Trustee for their party. Is that not enough confusion? That is why I am to confirm to you that APC is not the choice for Ondo state.
He continued “they said that they are going to fight corruption, you all know the situation in Nigeria today. They said they are going to ensure the security of Nigerian. Are we secured now? Are we secured at all?
“I assure you that this election in Ondo state is the commencement of the work in progress by the PDP, for the restructuring of Nigeria. Let’s go out and elect Eyitayo Jegede for Ondo statillnd GodwiofObaseki for Edo state.
Jegede in his address said ” We serve notice on the APC, an end has come to their reign of hardship
He promised ” to run a government with a human face, a government that will prioritise growing our local economy and was prepared to take Ondo State to an enviable height
Present at the ceremony include former Ekiti state governor, Segun Oni; former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Ekiti state deputy governor Kolapo Elena and former deputy governor of Sokoto Mukhtar Shagari and other national assembly members.
