The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has charged FCT residents, especially women, to vote candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the general elections in order to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Speaking Tuesday in Abuja, during a meeting with AMAC women ward leaders in Apo, Maikalangu said he is just settling into office, after a protracted court case, and will ensure FCT women get what belongs to them for electing him and supporting his administration.
He said: “Where we come from, we always forgive our enemies. He who wins election should be allowed to lead. Yesterday was Candido, today is Maikalangu, tomorrow will be another person. With the challenges we are facing now, we can’t give up. I am being denied some things, maybe because I am in PDP.
“I could not achieve some things because I was being distracted. But very soon, they will go and you will benefit. I am assuring you that you will get what is meant for you as women. I want you to support PDP candidates at all levels to win. Just the way you voted for me, this time around, make it times 10. PDP will deliver and make you proud. Vote for Atiku, Aduda, Jibah and other PDP candidates.
“FCT residents and candidates should ensure peaceful elections. Power comes from God. It is not a do-or-die affair. Wherever you go, sell your manifesto to the people and they will vote for you if they like you. These days, people are wiser. If you like give people one million naira each, they will not vote for you. But if you are good, people will vote for you. We are not violent in the FCT. Go and check our records. We are well educated here.”
Also speaking, the AMAC PDP Women Leader, Lami Shiwa, assured that FCT women will deliver bulk votes to the PDP, imploring FCT residents to vote for the PDP across board in order to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.
