WAEC/NECO: NDE flags off orientation on graduate coaching scheme in Yobe

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Tuesday flagged off orientation for Graduate Coaching Scheme (GCS) in three senatorial zones of Yobe state.

The training which is under the Special Public Works Department (SPW) of NDE is targeted at 36 participants 12 each from the three senatorial zones of the state.

Flagging off the programme in Government Day Senior Secondary School, Damaturu, the Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fipko, said the agency remained committed to their mandate of creating mass employment opportunity for unskilled and unemployed persons in Nigeria.  

Represented by the acting Yobe state coordinator of NDE, Hajiya Binta Aliyu, he said NDE is charged with the responsibility to design and implement to combat mass unemployment, articulate policies aimed at developing work programme with labour intensive potential and obtain and maintain data bank on employment vacancies in the country.

“Today, the programme that gathered us here is SPW, one of its schemes is the Graduates Coaching Scheme which helps in coaching final year secondary school students to be familiar with how to answer exams questions in WAEC and NECO,” the NDE DG stated.

In his remarks, the Yobe state HOD of SPW, Mallam Sani Ibrahim, said the aim of the scheme is to curtail unemployment, encourage wealth creation and boost self reliance.

He appealed to the participants to be good ambassadors of their respective families, the NDE and the country throughout the 3 months programme.
