Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Sunday has announced Côte d’Ivoire the host of the second edition of the Union of West African Football Union (WAFU) B Women’s Cup of Nations in Abidjan in May.
The host, Cote d’Ivoire is scheduled to play in Group A alongside Benin and Senegal. The defending Champions of AWCON, Nigeria, have been drawn in Group B, together with Mali, Ghana, and Guinea.
Ghana’s Black Queens were crowned the champions of the maiden edition WAFU Zone B women’s tournament in 2018 after beating hosts Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 in the final.
Nigeria Super Falcons emerge bronze medalist in the last edition of WAFU Cup of Nation in Côte d’Ivoire in the year 2018 and Thomas Dennerby with his assistant, Maureen Madu are expected to replicate the feat recorded in Ghana to lift the coveted trophy.
