Wakili’s death: Why Toro LG should produce new Senator – Group

Following the death of Senator Ali Wakili, residents of Toro local government area of Bauchi State have pleaded that the area should be allowed to produce the new senator.

K, made the plea yesterday during the formal declaration of the ex- Bauchi State Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Ibrahim Yakubu Umar for the senatorial seat in the forthcoming bye-election.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Raha social events centre in Toro, he said since 1999 till date Bauchi, Tafawa Balewa, Alkaleri local government areas had produced senators from the senatorial district and therefore urged them to allow Toro to produce the senator.
“On the basis of justice and equity, Barrister Ibrahim Yakubu Umar, who hails from Toro local government, should be elected as a senator to represent Bauchi South at the National Assemble.
“Toro is the largest local government area not only among the seven local governments in the Bauchi South senatorial district but in the whole country.
Therefore, we appeal to the people in the other areas to give our son in the person of Barrister Ibrahim Yakubu Umar a chance in the upcoming election”, he pleaded.
Also speaking, Honourable Hauwa Larai Haruna, who described Umar as a politically exposed having served as commissioner in the state, noted that he could provide good representation to the people of the state if elected senator.
She also advised him to carry women along and involve them fully in his electioneering claiming that women ‘are more trustworthy and loyal in politics.
