Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has concluded arrangements to assist dry season farmers with 2000 water pumps, 2000 tube wells and 2000 bags of assorted fertilisers. A statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani, yesterday, said the gesture would help improve the output of the farmers and boost food production in his district.
Th e statement also noted that the gesture was meant to further reduce poverty and unemployment in the state. “Any nation that cannot guarantee its food security stands the risk of failing to guarantee its internal security, as well as the utmost defence of its territories,” he said.
The chairman, Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, reiterated the commitment of the National Assembly to continue to accord the agricultural sector a priority attention.
