We are ready for Plateau supplementary election-INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Plateau state has said it ready for the conduct of Governorship and one state House of Assembly supplementary elections in 40 polling units of nine local government areas in the state.

 INEC head of voter education and publicity Mr. Osaretin Imahiyereobo said in a press release that refresher training will be conducted at the RACs, on March 22, 2019.

He said the Commission has compiled the list of ad-hoc staff on March 18, distributed non-sensitive materials to LGAs on March 19, and has configured Smart Card Readers, on March 20.

He said “INEC has approved supplementary elections in 40 Polling Units in 9 Local Government Areas declared inconclusive following the outcome of the March 9, 2019 Governorship elections.”

 “The elections will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Similarly, the Langtang South State House of Assembly Supplementary Elections will also take place on the same date,” he added.

Mr. Imahiyereobo, said the Governorship supplementary elections will take place in; 1 polling unit at Barkin Ladi, 2 in  Bassa, 4 in Bokkos, 3 in Jos North, 2 in Kanam, 4 in Langtang South, 20 in Mangu, 2 in Pankshin and 1 Shendam local government areas, respectively.

“All 18 polling units will hold their elections in Mangu 1 Reigistration Area, Kantoma (014) polling unit in Mangu Halle Registration Area as well as Ajing (012) polling unit in Panyam Registration Area, all in Mangu Local Government Area,” he added.

According Imahiyereobo, the Langtang South State Constituency, supplementary elections will hold in 5 polling units within the local government area.
