We attracted critical projects to IBBUL—Maiturare

The immediate past vice chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, (IBBUL), Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare said his administration was able to attract critical infrastructural projects and research grants worth several billions of naira from corporate organisations within and outside the country to the institution.

Maiturare made this known while formally handing over to his successor, Professor Abu Kasimu Adamu, at the university’s Senate Chamber recently.

He said due to concerted efforts made by his management team to put in place an enabling environment for learning, the institution had witnessed tremendous growth in both student population and quality academic staff.

Maiturare explained that the basic foundation projects to flag off the medical college at IBBUL were almost completed, adding that the construction of over half a billion naira Geological Laboratory, perimeter fencing of the entire university by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other rojects, were at various stages of completion.

Maiturare, who recently completed his single term of five years, also pointed out that a number of collaborations and partnerships that his administration initiated with some reputable national and international institutions on critical research areas were already yielding positive results in the university.

He stated that in no distant time, with fruitful discussions already initiated with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), more developmental projects would be executed at the institution.

The formerVC further said an ultra-modern e-learning centre was recently commissioned to enhance computer-based and ICT programmes in the university.

He  expressed delight that under his stewardship two successful convocation ceremonies were held, and notable personalities were recognized with honorary degrees and fellowship awards.

He then appreciated the unwavering support and cooperation his administration enjoyed from Niger state government, the institution’s governing council and management board, together with staff and students, appealing for the same gesture to be extended to his successor.

In his remark, the new VC commended Maiturare for taking IBBUL to an enviable height.

He promised to work assiduously towards consolidating the feat attained by his predecessor, saying he would initiate relevant programmes and administrative policies that would greatly accelerate the growth of the university.

Adamu, solicited for greater support and cooperation from staff, students and other critical stakeholders to enable him succeed.
