We ‘ll sustain El Amin founder’s dream – Babangida

Management of El Amin International Group of Schools with learning centres in Minna and Abuja has promised to sustain the legacies of its visioner, the late Dr Mrs Maryam Babangida.

This assurance was given by the executive director of the schools, Dr Mohammed Babangida, during the 20th graduation ceremony of the schools in Minna.

Dr Babangida said the event was the 10th edition after the demise of the founder, Mrs Maryam Babangida.

He disclosed that when the school was established 24 years ago, her abiding vision was to provide quality education in an enabling and inspiring environment.

“While she lived, this was being achieved and now that she has gone the way of all mortals, parents and friends of the school are still here and their numbers are growing. Moreover, there is an increased confluence of determination and enthusiasm to keep the founder’s flame burning. And the truth is that her legacy is being sustained.”

Speaking further, Dr Babangida revealed that El-Amin believes in inquiry-based learning where students are challenged to go beyond the accumulation of factual knowledge to address the greater questions that frame the society.

It was a two-day programme to mark the ceremony. The first event for parents was the pre-graduation dinner party which was well attended; then came the graduation day.

The governor of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal, was the guest of honour at the event and chief launcher of the school’s KS 2019 magazine.

In attendance were royal fathers from around the state, notable among whom were the Emir of Minna and Emir of Agaie. Lawmakers from the House of Representatives, commissioners, parents, guests and well wishers also graced the occasion.

The event was important as it marked the graduation ceremony of 47 students from the school.

Major highlights were the presentation of certificates to the graduates by the guest of honour, Governor Tambuwal. The overall best student award went to Zainab Malabu for being the best student in 7 major subjects.
