We will reform NYC, change status quo – Sukubo

President, National Youth Council, Ambassador Sukubo Saraigbe Sukubo has said with the Not- Too -Young –To- Run bill signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, NYC was on the road to effecting a paradigm shift in changing the status quo.
Speaking to newsmen in Kano at the conclusion of a familiarisation visit by his council, Sukubo stated that the National Youth Council would never fold its arms and allow the ruling old breed to stamp their feet on the nation’s political landscape perpetually, adding that effecting an all-encompassing change would be in the best interest of the nation.
He pointed out that a lot of water had passed under the bridge as far as relegating youths to the background was concerned, affirming that with the prevailing trend of youths struggling to get a space to prove their worth in all spheres of human endeavour, the youths have an abiding obligation to join the political fray and actively participate in the business of governance and leadership.
According to him, no political dispensation anywhere in the world could ever be feasible and reach fruition without youths active participation, pointing out that such leverage would serve as a tonic to their burning ambition to make considerable headway.
He revealed that Nigeria being a prominent developing country in Africa was in dire need of surgical excision for the vestiges of corruption and misrule to be weeded out, lamenting that the specter of corruption had eaten deep into the fabric of the nation with those promoting the evil act lavishly enjoying from their ill-gotten loot.
He however stressed that the issue of leadership in the present democratic setting does not entail using religion in voting for a certain candidate weather a Muslim or a Christian, positing that the secular nature of Nigeria gives one the opportunity to vote any credible candidate of his choice during election time.
“We are in Kano today to visit prominent places of human interest as we visit this orphanage to see things for ourselves, it is part of our responsibility and mandate to visit all places of human interest and take a stock.
We were at one of the prominent mosques in the metropolis and opportune to join the congregation we met and offered prayers for the peace and progress of the nation,” he added.
