No fewer than 315 women would benefit from a capacity training workshop on moringa cultivation, harvesting and processing in Adamawa.
Wife of the governor, Hajiya Zainab Nyako, made this known on Wednesday at the flag-off of the three-day training workshop organised by her NGO, Women Education and Empowerment Initiative (WEEIN), in collaboration with Tropical Agro Farms Clinic Limited, in Yola.
Mrs Nyako said the enormous industrial potential of moringa could be maximally harnessed in transforming the state.
“I am aware that moringa plant has many uses for human livestock as agriculture, biogas and other uses,” she said, adding that her NGO would raise and make available the seeds and seedlings to those interested.
In his speech, the Special Guest of Honour who is also the Commissioner Local Government Affairs, Dr Salihu Bakari, lauded the initiative, saying that it would enable the beneficiaries, particularly rural women, to boost their economic status.
He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity for maximum benefit to themselves and their communities.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Tropical Agro Farms, Mr Joseph Yariyum, harped on the nutritious and economic values of moringa, and urged participants to be committed to the programme.
