We’II harness youth’s potentials for nat’l devt – Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has said that his administration is fully equipped to harness the potentials of teeming youth in the state for the main purpose of attaining the goals of national development.

Addressing tens of thousands of youth at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano Wednesday, as part of activities marking the International Youth Day, Ganduje stated that ignoring youth would have negative repercussions on the future of the country as their various potentials have to be effectively tapped for the country to attain an appreciable level of greatness.

To this end, he added his administration is mulling the creation of two new Universities to add up to the two existing ones positing that modalities for the creation of the two new proposed Universities have reached an advanced stage and that his administration is only waiting for the final approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC)

He pointed out that with the creation of the two additional Universities, tens of thousands of youth would get enrolled for various academic programmes that would have a positive impact on the nation’s drive for harnessing the potentials possessed by the youth.

He said” we want to inform you people that we have good intention on you. we are currently planning to convert the State owned College of Education to a University status and equally convert the State owned College of Agriculture to the same University status. we have put all the necessary modalities in the pipeline and we are poised to achieving our goals.

“We also believed that with substantial number of youth gaining admission into the two new Universities, the disturbing spate of crime among youth would be drastically reduced. It is also our firm conviction that this development would be graciously welcomed by parents across the State” he revealed.

He called on youth to shun all forms of social vices that could jeopardize their future and scuttle their immense potentials to develop Kano stressing that with the youth taking the bull by the horns, the future would be promising to everyone.
