We’ll boost Cross River tourism, tackle unemployment – Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to boost the tourism industry of Cross River state and create more jobs for the people if voted into office as president.

Speaking during the APC presidential rally at the UJ Esuene stadium, Calabar, Tinubu said, “I promise that here come jobs, here comes prosperity when I win. We will turn things around and Cross River State tourism industry will be once more a wonder. We shall boost and take it to another height.

“Our economy is unhelpfully designed to export raw materials and import increasingly expensive finished products. Crude oil still provides most of our foreign exchange and agriculture has traditionally been the backbone of this nation and will continue to be.

“However, we must acknowledge the growing importance of our urban population which exceeds 50 percent. Our cities and towns will witness a level of industrial activity unprecedented in our nation’s history.

“Youths shall become leading catalyst driving econmic resurgence. The Allocation of revenue between federal and state government will be adjusted to give States greater flexibility to foster grassroots economic development.

“Our government will give priority to encourage industries vital to national development by growing our industrial base to provide jobs to an expanding urban population”. He maintained.

In his remarks, Gov Ben Ayade said the presidential candidate was in Calabar for the first part of the victory celebration and assured Tinubu of the support of Cross River state people.
