‘Well-informed, skilled efficient work force most appropriate’

Th e Federal Ministry of Environment has organised an induction training workshop for newly recruited staff of the ministry aimed at deepening their knowledge of procedures and operations. Th e ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shehu Ahmed, who declared the workshop open, said it was important for the ministry to conduct the training for the newly recruited staff in order to build a well-informed, skilled and effi cient work force.

“Th e objective of the training is to acquaint and expose the offi cers coming into the Federal Civil Service with the rudiments of the basic structures, processes, procedures and operations of the civil service as well as the mandate of the ministry,” he explained. Ahmed stated that participants would be exposed to the information in the operation of the Federal Civil Service which will facilitate the performance of their duties.

“Th e training is to introduce participants to the subjects of Code of Conduct and Ethics in the service in order to build in them the culture of proper service delivery, commitment to duty and discipline in the workshop as well as inculcate the spirit of honesty, accountability and transparency in service,” he stressed. He maintained that training was specially designed with rich content that will enable them develop as well as acquire the prerequisite skills, knowledge and techniques guiding the operation in the Civil Services aff airs
