We’ll settle all Osun’s debts in 2019 – Aregbesola

Osun state Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has assured that all conventional debt of the state would be settled in 2019. He stated this in Osogbo, the state capital while answering questions at an interactive programme tagged “Ogbeni Till Daybreak” at the weekend. Though Aregbesola’s tenure would end in November this year, he said “by the grace of God, the N11.4 billion Sukkuk debt would have been settled by September 2020.”
When asked about the debt profi le of the state, Aregbesola said the bulk of money borrowed by his administration before President Muhammadu Buhari became president was N25.8billion. He said the money was used to pay workers’ salary. The governor, who did not give the overall debt profile of the state, said his greatest regret was that PDP was at the centre when he became governor. He boasted that the people of the state would have witnessed tremendous development if he were to enjoy a good government at the centre when he became governor. Aregbesola, who also admitted failure in some of his administration’s programmes, maintained that he had succeeded in some areas known to the people, especially agriculture.
“By the grace of God, we would settle all the conventional debts. There would be no kobo left by November 2019. Also, N11.4 billion Sukkuk would have been settled by 2020. “It is true we borrowed N25.8 billion to pay salary before Buhari came, that is the bulk of the money we borrowed.” Reacting to the grading of the demolished Fakunle School, he boasted that the remaining 200 days of his administration would witness many activities
