We’ll take Lagos Rugby to desired heights – Larinde Williams

The gentleman’s game of rugby is about to receive the much needed lift in Lagos state. This was revealed by Hon. Larinde Williams in an interview with Sports Chronicle Magazine.

According to Williams who was recently appointed Chairman of Lagos State Rugby Association, the game has somewhat suffered a seeming apathy by sports enthusiasts in the state in recent times.

He said all that is about to change, as he reeled out plans by his board to make the game more popular and accepted in the state.

“The new board of Lagos State Rugby Association is set to change the narratives, as it concerns the development of the game in the state.

“We have lots of plans to reposition rugby as a well-loved sport after football, basketball and boxing in Lagos. Together with other members of the board, we shall be taking the game to the grassroots, particularly, the schools,” Williams, a former Nigeria international rugby player remarked.

” Lagos State Rugby Football Association has equally identified the corporate organisations and well placed individuals as needed partners and collaborators in the drive to take the game to higher heights in Lagos.

” In the next few weeks, we shall meet with stakeholders, the media and rugby enthusiasts to fashion ways forward for the game in the state, ” Williams, who doubles as the founder of Lagos Island Rugby Football Club, further disclosed.
