We’re investigating Kano Emir independently – anti-graft agency

Chairman Kano state Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado has said that the anti graft agency was launching full investigation into alleged financial misappriation committed by the Kano emirate council under the leadership of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Speaking to news men at a press conference in his office in Kano Wednesday, Rimin-Gado said he wanted the general  public to understand that there was no any connection between the    Commission’s ongoing investigation and the feud  involving governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the emir of Kano Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II saying the Commission was acting independently.

According to him, the preliminary report was just a tip of ice berg of the Commission’s findings against the Kano emirate council.

He said after the issuance of the query letter to the emir of Kano by the state government, many things had happened which had compelled the Commission as an independent entity to state its position which include that the investigation was not initiated at the instance of the government of Kano, but as a result of series of complaints from citizens of the state.

He said” as far as the Commission is concerned, this investigation is ongoing and the Commission will do everything legally possible to deliver its mandate with respect to the case”.

” Conclusively, it is our hope that, the Nigerian Anti- Corruption drive will be allowed to flourish and complemented without any undue interference from any quarter, authority or person for the fight against corruption to succeed” he said.
