We’re marginalised in Borno – APGA

APGA in Borno state has expressed its dissatisfaction with the government of Kashim Shettima over appointments and contracts since inception of the administration.

The party in a statement jointly issued by the 2011 APGA governorship candidate Borno state, Alhaji Garba Barmaid and APGA state chairman, Alhaji Ishaku Ado in Maiduguri on Wednesday accused the APC ruling government of marginalising APGA in all its activities in the state.
The statement further urged the APC government to open up and run a more all inclusive government in the last lap of the next elections.

It also called on the state government to, as a matter of priority and importance, complete all capital projects it had started.
It said: “We call for more scholarships for the teeming unemployed youths in the state and resuscitate the dormant industries owned by the state government such Bop last Industry, Neutral shoe industry, Borno Wire industry and Soda Ash Plant which could adequately engage thousands of unemployed youths.”

The APGA leaders also expressed dismay over the recent political developments in Borno and how politics was being down played by the APC government.
But in a reaction yesterday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communications, Alhaji Isa Umar Gusau, told Blueprint that the issue of APGA as a party was peculiar.

He said the APGA people in Borno had benefitted in one project or other, adding that plans were on course to incorporate them into the APC government programmes and projects.
He called on the APGA leaders in the state to exercise some restraints and be patient.
