We’ve competent youths to lead Kogi – Salifu

A Kogi state gubernatorial aspirant, Dr. Arome Salifu, has said that there were competent youths ready to lead Kogi state and Nigeria for growth and development.
Salifu stated this yesterday in Abuja when he received “An Icon of Youth Award” from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

He said: “Coming to the leadership of Kogi state and Nigeria, we need leaders that have clarity of vision, clarity of purpose and have the youthful strength to accomplish that vision, not accidental leadership like we have today.

According to him, “every young person has that natural ability to be passionate, innovative and they are those we need to take Kogi state and Nigeria to greater heights.

“We don’t want leaders that wake up and think of what to do for the day, we need leaders that could plan not just for today, but could plan for the next four to 50 years for their people.

“We need leaders with thorough understanding of what development is all about, leaders that understand the feelings of his people. It is unfortunate that what we have in Kogi state today is not what the people deserved.

“We want positive change in Kogi, we want that change to happen sooner than later, unfortunately we have to wait till year 2020, but of course, we are resolute that indeed we will endure till 2020.

Salifu said he is focused and determined to lead the Kogites out of the troubles they were undergoing under the leadership of Governor, Yahaya Bello.

In his remarks, NYCN the President, Amb. Murtala Muhammed Garba, described Salifu as the most qualified youth with outstanding political experience that could take Kogi state to greater heights.

“The NYCN does not give awards to people who don’t merit it. Over time we have been monitoring the activities of Dr. Arome Salifu in areas of youth empowerment and development, this among others, is why we decided to honour him”, Garba said.
