We’ve empowered 1m youths in 4 years says Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has said his administration has made giant strides in the area of jobs creation for unemployed youths adding that he has empowered one million youths in four years.

Ganduje who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Abba Anwar at a press conference Monday, stated that his administration had spent millions of naira in training the youths to acquire vocational skills in order for them to be self-reliant.

According to him, his administration had considerably changed the mind-set of youths in Kano state on the need for them to stop relying on government for white collar jobs.

He however stated that the empowerment programmes initiated by his administration in the last four years had served as a major catalyst in stamping out all forms of idleness which often leads to drug abuse and perpetration of heinous crimes among youths.

He further revealed that his administration was also making a concerted effort in the area of youths inclusion in the business of leadership and governance stressing that  no responsible government would love  to push youths to the lower rung of the ladder in that regard.

He said his administration had left no stone unturned in collaborating with notable Non-governmental organizations and reputable International development partners like the DFID in the area of special training aimed at acquainting the youths to master professional skills in order to boost their morale on self- reliance techniques.
