We’ve killed notorious kidnapper terrorising Delta – Police

 Delta state police command has said its men have killed a notorious bandit,   who specialised in killing, kidnapping and robbing people of their belongings in Udu local government area of the state. 

A statement by command public relations officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said the suspected gang leader and killer, Ekugbe Kingsley, was responsible for several killings in the area. 

The police spokesman said Ekugbe was responsible for the murder of one Obus Sophrum killed at Igbiki in Udu, one Lawrence Akpomiemie Ngozi Ijieh, a  former SA to Delta state governor killed in February, 2019 shortly before the 2019 general election and one Oghene, killed at Iyara, Warri. 

He said the suspected abductor, arrested through credible information and intelligent gathering, was trailed by the anti kidnapping unit of the command to his hideout in Ubeji. 

“On sighting the police, the suspect opened fire and the police responded with superior fire power. In the ensuing gun battle, the suspect sustained gunshot wound,” the PPRO said.

“The deceased was believed to be responsible for several killings, which included: the murders of one Obus Sophrum ‘m’ killed at Igbiki in Udu LGA on 29/08/2019, one Lawrence Akpomiemie Ngozi Ijieh, former SA to the governor of Delta state killed in the month of February, 2019 shortly before the 2019 general election, and one Oghene, killed at Iyara, Warri on 17/09/2019 amongst others.”

Onome said the commissioner of police assured all Deltans of his commitment to their safety and security at all times.
