We’ve lost 10 members, cows to attack in 3 months in Oyo – Fulani

Two Fulani groups, Jamu Nati Fulbe Association of Nigeria and  Miyetti Allah Kautel Hore Fulani Socio-Cultural Association have raised the alarm over alleged incessant killing of their members and cows.

The groups raised the alarm in a statement jointly signed by Alhaji Saliu Kadri, JP, the National Chairman of Jamu Nati Fulbe Association of Nigeria and Seriki Fulani of Oyo state, and Ibrahim Saliu, the state chairman, Miyetti Allah Kautel Hore Fulani Socio-Cultural Association.

In the statement, the Fulani groups stated that no fewer than 10 of their members and several cows have been allegedly killed across Oyo state in the last three months, adding that Governor Seyi Makinde and state Commissioner of Police, CP Nwachukwu Nwonwu should come to their rescue.

“In the past three months, over 10 of our members and many cows worth millions of naira have been killed in different parts of the state. We hereby use this opportunity to inform the governor, commissioner of police and the general public of frequent and unprovoked killing of our members and cows across the state,” the statement said.

According to the Fulani groups, the alleged incessant attacks occurred in Saki, Ijio, Ogbomoso, Iresaadu, Iganna, Ado-Awaye and Igboora.

According to the statement, “this is particularly necessary at this stage as there is a limit to human patience. We as an association have always been holding meetings to educate our members on the need to be law-abiding.

The Fulani groups threatened that they might not be able to restrain their members if the unprovoked killings continued unabated as their members might see them as failing in their duty of presenting their plight to the government.
