We’ve never sanctioned media establishments – Commissioner

Kano

Kano state Commissioner for Information, Comrade Mohammed Garba, has said that it was never the intention of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje administration to gag the media and that it had never sent any medium packing.
Speaking at the just-concluded 2nd NUJ National Conference in Kano which ended yesterday, Garba said the degree with which the social media was concocting lies and crude propaganda to smear the good image of the Ganduje administration in the name of the right to freedom of expression was disturbing.
He said no democratic dispensation could ever be feasible and realistic with the media pushed to the lower rung of the ladder, adding that the Ganduje administration was able to sustain its good working relationship with working journalists and owners of broadcast media, courtesy of the administration’s perseverance and the accommodation of public criticisms
He said the Ganduje administration had been consistent in its pronouncements and good intention since the time it had assumed office in the last three years, affirming that the issue of probity, accountability and transparency had been a mantra the administration was holding dear
He called on the delegates to the conference to avail themselves of the opportunity to take a stock of the administration’s score-card in all spheres of human endeavour.
