We’ve seized unsafe milk powder in Kano – Commissioner

The Kano state Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, has said that the ministry had confiscated powdered milk that was considered unsafe for public consumption, adding that the ministry had also seized 852 pieces of bred which have been found to be contaminated with bromate.

Speaking to newsmen as part of activities marking the World Toilet Day in Kano Thursday, Getso said the ministry had also impounded 68 jerry cans of adulterated palm oil and more than 100 cartons of expired soft drinks.

He said the state government’s commitment in waging the battle had been demonstrated through the provision of funds for the monthly sanitation exercise and the upgrade of training institutions for environmental health officers.

He called on the general public to strictly observe the laid down Covid-19 protocol that laid emphasis on maintaining social distance, wearing of face masks and washing of hands with sanitiser in order to protect themselves from the much dreaded pandemic infection.
