We’ve spent over N58m on hospitals, indigent widows, others – Ebonyi govt

Ebonyi state government Thursday said it has spent not less than N58m to assist hospitals, the poor and the needy in the society.

Further, he revealed that it gave N2m to the victims of the fatal accident that occurred in Akaeze River about two weeks ago.

The Senior Special Adviser to Governor David Umahi on Religious and Welfare Matters disclosed these during an Inter Ministerial briefing organised by the executive member of the government to mark the 24th anniversary of the state and the 60th independence of Nigeria.

The exco members led by the Secretary of the State Government and the Coordinating Commissioner, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, outlined some of its achievements under the five years administration of Governor David Umahi.

“We are given the accounts on the achievements of the ministries which would be aggregated to be score cards of Ebonyi state government under Engr Davis Umahi from 29th May 2015 to 29th May 2019 the second tenure came into effect. This is the 5th year of this administration and we are forging ahead.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ebonyi state, Mr Cletus Offoke, explained the role of the ministry to the state government, stressing the number of cases it has handled so far.

“The ministry is tasked with the onus of persecuting all the criminal cases in Ebonyi state and all the civil suits for the state government.

“Number of criminal case files received from the police is1986, those of informal and civil suits filed are 1484, while the number of cases disposed off in the various courts, including the federal high, national industrial high courts and others are 698”.
