What resuscitation of Ajaokuta steel means – Aka’aba


The management of the Ajaokuta Steel Company has described the commitment of  President Muhammadu Buhari administration towards  the resuscitation of the complex as a right step in the right direction, assuring that the effort would usher in  technological development and economic prosperity of the country.

The sole administrator of the steel company, Ismaila Abdul Aka’aba, who stated this over the weekend in Ajaokuta, while briefing newsmen on the level of job done on the rehabilitation of the Metallurgical Training School said the steel plant remained the only federal government asset still standing as at today.

Aka’aba noted that  the $1.5 billion  secured by the federal government will resuscitate  Ajaokuta Steel Complex  and  added that the entire workers and management of the company are happy with the assurances given by the Russian government and the commitment of President Buhari to injecting life into the plant.

“This development has signified what could become an effective end to the over 40 years delay in the completion of the multi-billion dollar project,” he said.

The sole administrator further stated that when Ajaokuta becomes operational, it would propel Nigeria into the class of the industrialised nations of the world.

“Aside the thousands of employment opportunities that the company would create for the teaming unemployed youth of Nigeria, it is also capable of generating huge foreign exchange and broaden the revenue base of the country.

“This development will tackle issues of youth restiveness and solve crimes that are associated to idleness and lack of jobs,” he stated.

He assured that the training school would also offer world class training for the young ones in engineering and crafts, adding  that it will help the country to attain sufficiency in the provision of middle manpower needed in the manufacturing industries.

He called on the people of Kogi state and indeed Nigerians to support the president’s efforts at reviving the company.
