‘Why APC stopped planned congress in Rivers, suspended lawmaker in Kebbi’

The Rivers chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended the planned ward, local government and state congresses in the state due to development in the judiciary.

The states caretaker committee chairman of the party, Mr Isaac Ogbobula, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt.

“The planned congresses of the APC in Rivers have been put on hold as directed by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in view of the development in the Judiciary.

“The NWC is responsible for necessary reconciliation process,” he said.

The acting chairman assured party faithful that all other party activities would go on unhindered in the state.

Supporters of a former lawmaker, Senator Magnus Abe had threatened to boycott the congresses for not being consulted.(NAN)

Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended Alhaji Habubu Gwandu, a member of state House Assembly from the party for alleged anti party activities.
The suspension was announced by the state’s Public Relations Officer of the party, Alhaji Sani Dododo, while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi Tuesday.
“The State Working Committee of the party on 16 Sept 2019, resolved that Alhaji Habibu Gwandu is suspended from the party, for anti party activities.
“A committee has been set up to investigate the allegation against him,” he said.
Dododo said Gwandu was alleged to have carried out series of anti-party meetings in Sokoto state and in Birnin Kebbi local government area (LGA) of the state.
“By the suspension, Gwandu is expected to stay away from all party activities both in his ward and the LGA until after the investigation,” he said.(NAN)
