Why BEDC trained, recruited over 134 youths in power sector – MD

Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has trained and recruited over 134 youths to boost the Power sector in Nigeria.

The Managing Director of BEDC, Mrs Funke Osibodu, said at the graduation ceremony in Asaba, Delta state capital “that the recruitment of new and additional workforce as well as training of staff in the company was critical to improve service delivery to consumer.”

The fourth edition graduates who went through training at Elizade University ilaramokin In Ondo state comprised 60 graduates of University and Polytechnic education and 74 Technicians who were issued certificates in Asaba.

Mrs. Osibodu said the young graduates whose age ranges between 24 and 30 years were trained in three batches – technical , commercial, safety and disaster management, metering, finance, customer management, computer analysis and personal development modules.

On the non-academic aspect of the training, BEDC said, “The practical aspects of the training expose the graduate trainees to hands -on – experience in meter instillation and fire disaster management.”

The Chairman Board Of Directors, Mr. Victor Osibodu, said the training exercise was meant to provide a “platform for the major work on the professional integration of young people under the guidance and tutelage of experience tutors and colleagues in Power Sector in other to prepare them for the work and build.”
