Why I dropped my ambition for Gbajabiamila – Bukar-Abba

‎Khadija Waziri Bukar Abba, who represents Damaturu, Tarmuwa, Gujba, Gulani  federal constituency, has stated that she opted to drop her ambition to run for speakership of the House in compliance with the decision of the APC national leadership.

The four-time member, who had initially planned to throw her hat into the ring for the leadership position of the 9th House of Representatives but later decided against it, said in Kaduna over the weekend that she did not want to go against the decision of the party.

The lawmaker said although she has all it takes to become the next speaker but has chosen to support the party-nominated candidate for the position as a loyal party member.

Khadija Bukar-Abba said the position by the party national leadership on who should become the next speaker made her dropped her ambition.

Further, she said since the APC national leadership had zoned the senate president and speaker of the House of Representatives to the North-east and South-west geo-political zones respectively and in particular to Senator Ahmed Lawan from Yobe state and Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos state, it would be disloyal to act against the wishes of the party leadership.

“As an obedient party member if my party needed a favour from me today there is no way I will refused by going against what the party says because the party has supremacy ‎over any selfish interest.

“That is why my quest for the speakership of the House of Representatives died a natural dead” she said.
