Why I dumped Giwa FC – Biffo

Head coach of Giwa FC of Jos, Abdullahi Biffo, on Sunday night announced his resignation as the technical adviser of the club two weeks after the club was reinstated to the Nigeria Premier League by the League Management Company (LMC).
His resignation could be a big blow to a club side which he helped to gain promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Premier League this season.

When contacted via telephone early yesterday morning, Biffo, who is currently attending the ongoing coaching licensing C course in Abuja, told Blueprint Sport that his decision to quit the club was due to the high-handedness of the club owner, Amb. Chris Giwa.
According to him, “I was surprised to be issued a query by the club’s chairman on why I should be away from the club to attend a coaching course in Abuja after he was the one who approved it.

“In his query which I was served when I returned to prepare for our Sunday’s match against Abia Warriors, he asked me to explain why I should still be in Abuja after we recorded a 1-1 draw against Kano Pillars and I replied. He later insisted that I should send him a text promising not to do that again which I also did, that was why I was on bench on Sunday.
“After the match on Sunday, the club owner stopped me from continuing the coaching course which made me to tender my resignation.

“There are so many other things happening in the club which I won’t want to expose. This is a club which players and officials are not paid adequately, yet we have continued to work. For the past three years, I personally have been paid N100, 000 and I didn’t complain.”

“The club owner has since placed my assistant Patrick Ozo on suspension and I sent him a text after I resigned to reinstate him to help the club continue on what we have done even if another coach will be brought in.”
On plans for his future, the ex-Giwa FC gaffer, who is back to Abuja to continue his coaching course asserted, “Many clubs are currently calling me to work with them but I will decide my next line of action after the coaching course.
It would be recalled that Biffo had departed the club on mutual consent in 2012 but was recalled by the club owner to continue his job after a month. His return earned the club 12 matches unbeaten and secured them promotion to the premier league.
