Super Eagles forward Moses Daddy Simon has joined French Ligue 1 side Nantes FC on a season-long loan from Spanish La Liga outfit Levante.
The deal was confirmed by the French outfit via their official Twitter handle on Thursday, August 15.
The 24-year old joins fellow internationals HenryOnyekuru and Victor Osimhen who both signed for AS Monaco and LOSC Lille respectively this summer in France’s topflight. His presence also brings to fore the number of Nigerian internationals in Ligue 1 with Samuel Kalu having signed for Bordeaux last year.
Simon was a vital part of Gernot Rohr’s side at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, supplying two assists for the Super Eagles on their way to a bronze medal at the tournament.
He made 24 appearances, scored one goal and created another in all competitions last season for Levante whom he joined just last year from Belgian outfit KAA Gent in a £4.50m deal.
His move to France comes as no surprise as he had told busybuddiesng.com that his sole season in the Spanish topflight had been “average” and revealed the difficulty he faced in settling down in Spain last season
“I would say [my season with Levante was] average because my first season there, I needed to adapt with the language because I think ninety percent of my club don’t speak English so I need to adapt to know their culture,” he revealed.
The forward who began his career at the GBS Academy in Jos could be in line to make his debut when his new team take on Marseilles on Saturday, August 17. He has been capped twenty-five times by the national team and has scored four goals and bagged four assists.
