Why I openly supported Buhari in 2019 – Umahi

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, Monday, boasted of supporting President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of his second term bid in 2019 while still in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Umahi who spoke during a ground breaking ceremony of civil servant housing in Uburu, Ohaozara local government council of the state said though PDP accused him of giving the President 25 percent votes in Southeast, he believed in a person that remembers the region both in development and otherwise.

He further stated that it was the love of Buhari that made him leave PDP for APC.

He said, “Our target in 2021 is to finish all this beautiful edifice including the college of medicine, the airport, the mall, the stadium, dualise from Abakaliki to Afikpo, Abakaliki to Enugu and do the remaining 177 kilometers of the ring road and ofcourse all the ongoing projects like the Ntezi to Isu is all about 15 kilometers remaining. They will be completed, the Iyenu flyover bridge will also be completed. I am determined and committed to complete all the ongoing projects.

“We must commend Mr President very highly. Just of recent, the President approved the sum of N3.4 billion for the cancer treatment center in this place and time will fail us to enumarate all the assistance of Mr President to this state and ofcourse to Southeast.

“Even if I don’t join APC for any other thing, I will join the party just because of Mr President’s love for this state.”
