‘Why NYSC banned corps members from unanthorised travelling’

The management of the National Youth Service Corps has warned and banned corps members from travelling out of their place of primary assignment and orientation camps without permission from authorities.
The NYSC director-general, Brig-Gen.
Zakari Kazaure, handed down the warning on Tuesday while addressing new corps members at Ekiti state permanent orientation camp.
Kazaure reportedly said he was on an official visit to enlighten corps members on the dangers associated with playing with their health and security.
Interacting with the corps members in Ekiti, Kazaure told the youth to join hands with him to avoid a repeat of the tragic incident in which nine corps members drowned in Taraba state.
“You all have to avoid night journeys and other unnecessary journeys for that matter.
‘’Remember that before you embark on any journey, the need arises that you first inform your immediate supervisors and obtain necessary permits.
“A graduate is expected by the society to be above board.
I, therefore, want you to please join hands with me to ensure that the tragic incident in Taraba is the very last of such,” he said.
Kazaure expressed regret over the untimely death of the nine corps members, saying it was a huge loss to him personally and the nation in general.
He therefore, gave the corps members his personal number to call him in the event of an emergency that they feel their immediate supervisors cannot handle.
Meanwhile, the management of the National Youth Service Corps has denounced the unconfirmed reports on Monday that President Muhammadu Buhari had raised NYSC allowance to N49, 800.00
