A former political adviser to Adams Oshiomhole, Mr Charles Idahosa, has said his erstwhile boss is having a running battle with Governor Goodwin Obaseki because the latter has surpassed his achievements.
Idahosa, an All Progressives Congress chieftain decried scathing remarks about Governor Obaseki credited to the former governor (Oshiomhole) over the leadership of the state House of Assembly.
The ex-adviser stated that “under Oshiomhole, the APC had 16 members out of 24 in the state assembly, but presently has all 24 seats under Obaseki. “To me, the victory of APC was a referendum on Obaseki,” Idahosa said.
Besides, he alleged that Oshiomhole, the APC national chairman had also wanted Obaseki to continue in the “old order” where touts became revenue collectors for the state and continuously harassed innocent citizens.
The party chieftain wondered the moral justification of Oshiomhole’s interference in the composition of the leadership of the state assembly when, according to him, the court has barred the governor from issuing fresh proclamation.
According to him, “as political adviser, I and Oshiomhole called carpenters to remove the state assembly roof and relocated eight legislators to Government House for their sittings because we were fighting the PDP.
“So, in doing that, the opposition lawmakers could not seat at the assembly and they could not also join their colleagues inside government house.
“Now, Oshiomhole can’t run away from the actions and inactions of Obaseki because he brought him to us that we should support him.
“Oshiomhole should go and settle with Obaseki because Edo state is the only APC state in the South-south and South-east,” Idahosa said.
Nine out of the 24 members-elect of the assembly were inaugurated on July 21.
