Why PDP will win Benue – Ortom’s aide

Senior Special Assistant to Benue state Governor on media, Mr. Tempura Ati has said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will win the
governorship election and majority of the elective positions to be contested.

Ati who stated this in an interview with Blueprint in Makurdi said the All Progressive Congress (APC) has squandered the chance given to
it by the people and the people will not vote for the party again.

He also said that the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which would have served as an option is currently enmeshed in crisis over its governorship ticket and that it has a pending case in court.

According to Ati, no political party in the state has produced a candidate that can fight for the people and listen to their cries like Samuel Ortom.

He said: “The PDP, during the primary, was the only political party that allowed the people to produce candidates in the state. Both the
APC and SDP candidates were imposed on the people.

“Right now, as I am speaking to you, the SDP is in court over the manner the governorship candidate, Steven Hwande came in. The APC has
lost its relevant in the state over the role the ruling party played when Benue people were killed.

“People complain that the governor has not performed, but he would not have done better in the situation he met when he came in as governor.”

He said on assumption of office, Governor Ortom was met with lots of challenges from security and inadequate funds adding, “in that situation nobody can do better.”

“The APC could have done better, but the way they handled insecurity in Benue, I don’t think they still have the good will of the people. I don’t know whether the APC will even come third in the election here in Benue,” he said.
