Why Rivers now peaceful – Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said that the synergy between the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in Rivers state was responsible for improved security situation in the state.
The army chief said this during the inauguration of extended headquarters complex of 6 Division, Port Harcourt.
He commended security agencies for the recent arrests of notorious criminals in the state, which he said was responsible for the relative peace.
He, therefore, enjoyed them to continue to work together to sustain the peace.
While commending past and present General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Division, the army chief charged officers to always contribute to the development of any formation they are being deployed.
In his remarks, the GOC of 6 Division, Maj.-Gen. Musa Sanni Yusuf, said the Division had continued to perform its responsibilities professionally since its operationalisation, last year, adding that that had led to the reduction of criminal activities in its area of responsibility.
“The personnel have been resilient and professional in carrying out their assignments,” he said.
The GOC said the project would address issues of officers’ accommodation in the Division, and boost the morale of troops.
Other projects inaugurated were the 6 Division Mascot, parameter fence of medical centre and Guards House.
