Widow with kidney disease needs N7m to live

A 50-year-old widow is currently struggling to survive an attack on her life, as a kidney disease has kept her bedridden at the Zenith Medical and Kidney Centre (ZMKC) in Abuja.
Except Simbiat Sadiq gets N7 million urgently, doctors at the medical centre believe her chances of survival are slim.
This was contained in a document issued by ZMKC, where she is receiving treatment, and signed by its Consultant Physician/Nephrologist, Dr. A. Adejugbe.
“The above-named (Simbiat Sadiq) is a known patient being managed for chronic kidney 2 DM Nephropathy,” the statement said.
“She is currently on twice weekly maintenance haemodialysis, which cost seventy (70) thousand naira weekly.
“She will benefit from a kidney transplantation, which carries better outcome in terms of survival and good quality of life.
“The renal replacement is estimated to be about N7 million, with medication inclusive.”
It said the transplant could be done at Fortis Hospital, in Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka, in India.
